Long before Wayne Gretzky, it was Jackie Gleason who was known as “The Great One”.

It is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jackie Gleason this week.

We honor him and his body of work – from the Honeymooners to American Scene Magazine to his movies (The Hustler, Smokey and the Bandit, Gigot,  and Nothing in Common) and his music making.

He has been gone since 1987.  Thanks to video and records he can still be with us. Nonetheless, we miss him and remember him at this centennial moment.

Here’s a cool Jackie Gleason site.
