A thank you to Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette for making us aware of an important birthday.

Red Kelly turns 88 today.

Leonard Patrick “Red” Kelly played on more Stanley Cup winning teams (eight) than any player who never played for the Montreal Canadiens, and is the only player to be part of two of the nine dynasties recognized by the NHL in its history (Detroit and Toronto). He was also an NHL coach in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Toronto. Finally, he was a Liberal Member of Parliament for the Toronto-area riding of York West from 1962 to 1965, while playing for the Leafs.

,1905 (He died in 1984).
