It was once home of the Leafs, there along Carlton Street.

Now it is the site of a Loblaw’s supermarket (and Ryerson University Athletic Complex, including a hockey rink).

But ghosts of the past can be recalled by pictures as well as a unique piece of art inside the shell of what used to be Maple Leaf Gardens.

The “artwork” is an wall installation of “blues” chairs from the old Gardens in the shape of a Maple Leaf.

It is perched high above the east wall of the supermarket.

This work can be gazed at from a row of “yellows” that serves as a rest area just past the entrance.

There’s not a supermarket quite like tis one to be found anywhere else.
