When I first traveled to Montreal as a child in the mid-1960’s I was captivated by so much of the place. From the French to its vibrancy, to its anxious feel as related to language.
St. Catherine’s Street as it was then called also caught my attention as a combination between New York’s Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.
Today Rue Ste-Catherine still maintains a buzz of excitement. But one could not grasp just how much change has occurred until seeing a wonderfully enlightening and entertaining article in the Montreal entitled “Little trace remains of Montreal’s glamorous theatre era”.
