The John Scott story is an amazing one.

How the fans voted a player with lesser skills to the top of All-Star ballotting. The lengths that some went to try to deprive him the opportunity to play. Scott’s demeanor and performance at the game which earned him game M.V.P.

Now the game is over and ScottĀ is off to St. John’s, Newfoundland to play with the Ice Caps, the American Hockey League Affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.

We are sorry that Scott must now be separated from his wife and daughters – especially now when twins are on the way (The family had to move from Arizona to Michigan without John).

We also hope that John might find a way back to the NHL – whether with Montreal or some one else.

In the meantime, though, we wish John Scott well in his newest home.

And, we hope that folks will also be fair to St. John’s. From where many sit, it may be a long trip, but remote it is not. In fact, it is a vibrant, energetic and energizing place. Siberia it is not.

So, we hope John and family are reunited soon. But for now, if he cannot be home or in the NHL, we are sure that the “cool and quirky” St. John’s will treat John very well.
